The Ringgold Baseball Tigers are enjoying a long weekend in Savannah and they certainly enjoyed the way their trip began on Thursday night.
Facing Class AAAAAA Richmond Hill, the Blue-and-White trailed 4-3 heading in to the top of the seventh when they exploded for six runs and went on to a season-opening 9-4 win.
Senior Hunter Ricketts took the mound in the fourth inning and threw 3 1/3 innings of relief, finishing with seven strikeouts. He also helped himself by going 2-for-2 at the plate.
Noah Parrish had the hot stick for the Tigers as he went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs. Included in that was a three-run homer. Tyler Nichols also went 3-for-3 as Ringgold moved to 1-0 on the year.
"Hunter really stepped up for the team on the mound and at the plate," head coach Brent Tucker said. "It was really good to see (from our team) this early in the season."
Ringgold is scheduled to take on the Rome Wolves on Saturday in Savannah before facing Richmond Hill again later in the day.
