The LaFayette Ramblers finally broke through with their first subregion victory of the season on Tuesday night and did so in dramatic fashion.
Down five runs headed into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Ramblers rallied to tie visiting Southeast Whitfield and force extras. The Raiders regained the lead with a run in the top of the eighth, but LaFayette pushed home two in the bottom of the frame for a 9-8 win.
LaFayette improved to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in subregion play, while Southeast fell to 3-9 and 0-4.
No other details on the game were available as of press time.
The two teams will battle in Game 2 of the series on Thursday in Dalton before the final game of the series Friday night back in LaFayette.
First pitch of both games is slated for 5:55 p.m.
