BASEBALL: Gordon Lee puts up 13 in the first against LaFayette

After eight-run single-inning outbursts in their last two games, the Gordon Lee raised the bar even more on Wednesday in a home game against Walker County neighbor LaFayette.

The Trojans put up 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning, and three pitchers combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Navy-and-White moved to 5-0 with a 14-1 win over the Ramblers.

Tucker Bradley had three hits in three at-bats and drove in three runs for Gordon Lee, who added a solo run in the fourth inning. Jake Rogers was 2 for 2 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Bryce Bailey drove in a pair of runs and scored twice.

Bay Wright, Connor Coakley, Will Goodman, and Daniel Brooks each had one RBI on the night. Brooks also had a triple, while Wright, Goodman, and Cody Wilson each doubled in the win.

Josh Manning picked up the lone RBI for LaFayette on a fifth-inning sacrifice.

Adam Vandiver, who also went 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored, got the win on the hill for the Trojans. He threw the first two innings, striking out three hitters and walking two. Zack Cobb worked the next two innings, allowing two walks with two strikeouts, and Landon O'Neal pitched the fifth, walking one, fanning two, and giving up one unearned run.

Jacob Pendley took the loss for LaFayette, giving up seven earned runs on nine hits while working just two-thirds of the first innings.

Gordon Lee will put it unbeaten streak on the line on Friday when they open their Region 6-A schedule at Darlington. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. The Trojans also announced that Tuesday's rained out home game with Trion will be made up on April 23.

LaFayette (2-3) will be back in action on Monday when they host Model at 5 p.m.
