A much warmer day is in store for Polk County as the National Weather Service calls for temperatures to reach into the upper 80s for the day, with clear skies expected this afternoon. However, chances for rain are finally returning to the forecast later on this week.

Today's forecast calls for sunny skies, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Areas of fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the morning.

Thursday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 68.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 69.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 75.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 78.

Update: Murder suspect Michael Yates caught in Bartow County

UPDATE: According to Rome police Lt. Joe Costolnick: "Michael Yates was arrested a short time ago in Bartow County. He was captured during a traffic stop after we received information that he would be in a particular vehicle. He was arrested without incident."
