Camp Compassion coming up on July 19 and 20

Camp Compassion for kids will be held at 3900 Antioch Road, Cedartown, on July 19-20.

The camp is planned for children six to 12 years of age. The fee is $15 per child and $10 for each additional youngster.

Parents are advised that Saturday’s drop off time is 9 a.m. and pick up is 3 p.m. Sunday.

Kids need to bring a sleeping bag or sheet, blanket and pillow, swimsuit, towel, two or three changes of clothes, pajamas and toothbrush.

During the two-day event, children can enjoy arts and crafts, music and dance, games, sports activities, treasure hunt, slip and slides plus a bonfire.

Update: Murder suspect Michael Yates caught in Bartow County

UPDATE: According to Rome police Lt. Joe Costolnick: "Michael Yates was arrested a short time ago in Bartow County. He was captured during a traffic stop after we received information that he would be in a particular vehicle. He was arrested without incident."
