Polk County Schools will close Thursday.
The City of Cedartown's transit service is not in operation Wednesday, according to Bob Worthington, street superintendent.
Also: the East Avenue viaduct remains closed, as does the College Street Bridge. There is also a section of John Hand Road that's closed from John Phillips Road to Lakeview Drive.
Winter weather is on the way to Polk County this afternoon, and already local organizations are deciding whether to stay open or go home.
The City of Cedartown offices for all non-essential personnel will be closing at 11:30 a.m. They plan to re-open at 10 a.m. Wednesday pending the weather. An official announcement will be made if any changes are made to their schedule.
Polk County Schools decided to let students go home earlier than the scheduled noon and 12:30 times as of 10:22 a.m. Officials said accumulation on some of the county roads forced the decision.
The City of Rockmart will be closing the administrative offices at 11:30 a.m. City manager Jeff Ellis said Public Works, Police and Fire officials will still be on the job throughout the day.
The Harbin Clinic office in Cedartown will close at 1 p.m.

All Rockmart Recreation Department basketball games and practices have been canceled.
All Cedartown Recreation Department games have been called off.
Cedartown and Rockmart High School basketball is also canceled for the evening.
The Polk County campus of Georgia Northwestern Technical College is closed, and all classes for the day canceled. No other GNTC campus has yet be closed, according to an e-mail from the school.
Georgia Highlands College campus in Floyd County is closing at 1 p.m.
The Polk County Boys and Girls Club is also closed for the day.
