Mr. Brown

Mr. Joel Glenn Brown, Sr., age 58, of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Atlanta, GA on Feb. 23, 1959 a son of Charles Robert Brown and Patricia Ann Hollowitch Brown.

Mr. Brown had been a resident of Polk County for the past 20 years moving here from Atlanta. He enjoyed coin collecting, reading, gun collecting and chopping wood.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1979 to 1981. He was a former employee of Orr Built Compressors of Atlanta.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Charles, Scott and Wally Brown.

Survivors include his wife of thirty years Lisa Brown, Rockmart; son, Joel Brown Jr., Rockmart; three daughters: Holly and Misty Langley, Aragon, Joanna Allbritten, Rockmart and Patricia Brown, Aragon and two grandchildren.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Brown was cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Beck

Mrs. Mary Janis Beck, age 73, of Cedartown passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

She was born in Cedartown on Sept. 22, 1944, a daughter of the late Richard East and Fannie Miller East.

Mrs. Beck was born and raised in Cedartown where she was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She had a great love for her family and her grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with them and all of her friends.

Mrs. Beck also loved spending time in the kitchen cooking. She spent her working career at Arrow Shirt Company where she retired after 31 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Fred Beck, to whom she was married on Nov. 30, 1962; son, Greg Beck and his wife, Dorothy; two grandchildren: Tabitha Beck and Zachary Beck; brother, Curtis East; and a number of cousins and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Smith and Miller Funeral Home. Interment followed at Polk Memory Gardens.

The family received friends Friday afternoon, Dec. 22, 2017 prior to funeral the hour at the funeral home.

Pallbearers included Brandon East, Clint East and Trenton East.

The Smith and Miller Funeral Home of Cedartown was honored to serve the family of Mrs. Mary Janis Beck.

Mr. Norton

Mr. Kenneth R. Norton, age 59 of Centre, Ala., passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017.

He was born on July 14, 1958 in Cedartown, the son of the late Harvey J. and Ann Hudgins Norton.

Mr. Norton is preceded by his parents; and sons Chris Norton and Jeffery Norton.

Mr. Norton is survived by his wife, Cynthia Norton; daughters, Melody Pope (Zach) and Anna Moore (Robert); sons, Joey Pruitt (Marsha) and Toby R. Norton; brothers, Ricky Norton and Mitchell Norton; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Mr. Bagley

Mr. Robert Cordle Bagley age 92 of Cedartown, passed away Saturday Dec. 16, 2017.

Mr. Bagley was born June 25, 1925 in Chattooga County to Farice Cordle and James Claude Bagley.

He graduated from Summerville High School and attended Gorden Military Academy until entering the Army Air Corps. He worked with Standard Oil of Kentucky later Chevron Oil until he Retired.

Mr. Bagley was also preceded in death by his parents and by sons in law, David Morgan and Doug Terrell.

Surviving are his wife Peggy Crawford Bagley, Daughters Pam Morgan, Peg Terrell, Pat and Parnell Odom, Nine Grandchildren and many great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services for Mr. Robert Cordle Bagley were conducted Monday Dec. 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Dr. David Taylor officiating.

The family received friends Monday, Dec. 18, prior to funeral hour at the church.

The family has asked that flowers please be omitted and donations be made to the Samaritan House at 302 Wissahickon Ave. Cedartown, Ga., 30125 in his honor.

Mr. Norton

Mr. Lindburgh Norton III, 33, of Cedartown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday December 13, 2017.

He was born on March 19, 1984.

Services for Mr. Lindburgh were held on Saturday, Dec. 16, in the chapel of the Wingfield Funeral Home.

Wingfield Funeral Home of Cedartown were honored to serve the family of Mr. Lindburgh Norton III.

Mr. Dennis

Mr. Benjamin John (BJ) Dennis Jr. of Rockmart passed away on Monday, Dec. 6, 2017.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Marietta Street United Methodist Church at 1 p.m.

Services for Mr. Dennis were entrusted to Wingfield Funeral Home of Cedartown.
