Mr. Dyer

Mr. Milton Dyer Sr., age 84, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday evening, Aug. 23, 2017.

Mr. Dyer was born on Aug. 8, 1933 in Haralson County, the son of Merle Milton Dyer and Virdell Lowe Dyer.

Mr. Dyer was a United States veteran. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach California for 35 years.

Mr. Dyer was a member of the South Side Baptist Church of Cedartown.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Dyer and David Dyer and his wife, Betty Jo Eads Dyer in 1997.

Milton Dyer Sr., is survived by his sons, Milton Dyer Jr., and Christopher Dyer; his sister, Clarice Dyer Deering and his granddaughter, Kayla Ann Dyer.

A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Dyer was cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.

Mr. Proctor

Mr. Benny Eugene “Bo” Proctor Jr., age 57, of Temple, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born in Rockmart on June 30, 1960 a son of Benny E. Proctor Sr. and Virginia Ruth Swift Proctor.

He had lived the greater part of his life in the Polk and Paulding county area.

Mr. Proctor enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He was a self employed carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his father and by a daughter Candice Proctor.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Cash, Rome; mother, Virginia Ruth Reece, Rockmart; four grandchildren; a brother, Nicky Proctor, Temple; a sister Belinda Hutcheson, Gainesville; special friend, Nancy Self, Dallas.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Ingram officiating.

Mr. Hutto

Mr. Bryan Curtis Hutto, age 60 of Rockmart passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017.

He was survived by his wife, Valerie Black Hutto to whom he was married Nov. 15, 2002.

Mr. Hutto was born May 18, 1957 in Fort Wainwright, Alaska, son of Dorothy June Trusty Hutto and the late Hershel Clyde “Hut” Hutto.

He was a graduate of the Cedartown High School Class of 1976 and a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. Mr. Hutto was a veteran of the United States Army with 7 years of service to his country and was a member of the American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12.

Mr. Hutto retired from Meggitt Polymers & Composites with 17 years of service.

He had a great love for his family, especially for his grandson.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kevin Hutto and Dale Hutto.

Other survivors included his son, Chris Hutto and his wife Candi of Rockmart; mother, June Hutto of Cedartown; sister, Terri Hutto Gourm of Rome; two brothers, Jerry Hutto of Rockmart and David Hutto and his wife Kim of Cedartown; one grandson, Curtis Scott Hutto of Rockmart; and niece, Valerie Redden of Cedartown.

A private family memorial service for Mr. Hutto was held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Carter officiating.

Mrs. Yancey

Mrs. Kathryn Mobley Yancey, age 94 of Rockmart passed away Sunday afternoon, Aug. 20, 2017 at the Christian City Convalescent Center of Union City.

Mrs. Yancey was born Feb. 24, 1923 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Henry Mobley and the late Ellie Jones Mobley.

She was a homemaker and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart for over 50 years.

For many years, she worked for the Polk County Board of Elections as the coordinator for Rockmart. She was an avid golfer and a Life Master bridge player.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Yancey on Sept. 15, 2005; two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors included a daughter, Mary Ann Yancey Pike of Villa Rica; son, John Charles Yancey and his wife Kathy of Snellville; four grandchildren, Laura Upton Edwards, Bill C. Upton, Jr., Lily Yancey Miller and Ian Yancey; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Yancey were held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Great Room with Rev. Jason Odom and Rev. John Cowan officiating.

Interment services followed in the family lot of Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Tommy Edwards, Ben Marlow, Malachi Ray, Ian Yancey, Nevin Miller and Jeff Lane.

Mrs. McGee

Mrs. Brenda Sue McGee, age 57 of Ranburne, Ala., passed away suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 from injuries sustained in a automobile accident.

Mrs. McGee was born on Jan. 13, 1960 in Villa Rica.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert Adams and her husband, Keith McGee.

Mrs. McGee is survived by her daughter, Brandi Mechelle Jacobs and Donald; her mother, Geraldine Woody Adams; her brothers, Benjamin Hobbs and Terry Hobbs; her sisters, Glenda Rice and Jennifer Samples, as well as six grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Brenda Sue McGee were conducted on Thursday afternoon, August 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Wilson officiating.

Interment followed in the Mountain View Cemetery, 2190 County Road 41, Ranburne, Ala., 36273.

The family received friends on Wednesday evening, Aug. 23, 2017 at the Litesey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Chandler

Mrs. Bettye Sligh Owens Chandler, age 76, of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017.

She was born on January 9, 1941, in Cave Spring, the daughter of the late Hugh W. and Ruby Bradfield Sligh.

Mrs. Chandler loved her family and was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan that saw the very first game in 1966 and the very last game played in the Georgia Dome.

She and her dear friend, Debra Farmer, attended every home game. “Mrs. Bettye” never met a stranger and no one ever heard the word “no” leave her mouth.

Mrs. Chandler is survived by her husband, Dewey Chandler; daughters and sons-in-law, Lyn Jett Knowles and Patrick Kelly, Rebekah Jett Lyles and Wayne, and Tammy Floyd and Tony Mitchell; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jett, Lamar and Gaynell Owens, Keith and Teresa Owens and Toby and Ginger Chandler; grandchildren, Lynsey Knowles, Lara Knowles, Logan Knowles, Austen Atkins, Jeb Hays, Henley Hays, Ashley Shepherd, Brittany Lyles, Adelyn Lyles, Halie Bissell, Heath Owens, Chris Owens and Dena Stroup, and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Chandler is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Bobby Jett; second husband, Kelly Owens, and grandchild, Chase Floyd.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Bettye Sligh Owens Chandler was conducted on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Snapp, Rev. Danny Tucker, and Mr. Patrick Kelly officiating.

Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery with Mr. Jamie Newsome officiating.

The family of Mrs. Chandler received family and friends on Thursday evening, Aug. 24, 2017 at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The family is accepting flowers; however, donations can also be made to a charity of one’s choosing.

Mrs. Ward

Mrs. Peggy Molock Ward, age 68, of Cedar­town, passed away on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1949 in Cedartown.

She is preceded in death by her father, Harvey Edward Molock.

Mrs. Ward was retired from health care, serving as a nurse in private practices and in the hospital setting. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving family, her husband, “Buck” Ward; her daughter, Jessica Ward; her mother, Helen W. Molock; her brothers and a sister in law, Steve Molock and Bobby and Vicki West; one niece and four nephews and a Great nephew also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Molock Ward were conducted on Saturday morning, Aug. 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Tucker officiating.

Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery.

The family received friends on Friday evening, August 25, 2017 at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.
