A woman was found dead in the woods behind the Ingles Market in Rockmart at Nathan Dean Parkway and Highway 101, according to police. 

Rockmart Police Chief Keith Sorrells confirmed the yet-identified woman was found around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon in a tent behind the grocery store. Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier said pronounced her dead after he arrived on the scene at 4:40 p.m.

Brazier said there was still no certain cause of death. 

Brazier added that notification of woman's family was still pending and that her name was not being released at this time. Her remains will be sent to the GBI Crime lab for further examination, he added. 

There was no immediate evidence of foul play, Sorrells reported.
