CEDARTOWN — A Cedartown woman was pronounced dead on the scene in a wreck on North Main Street on Friday night, according to Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier.
Brazier reported that Deputy Coroner Ivan Warner pronounced Gatha Cothron Tutt of a Cedartown address dead at 8:45 p.m.
He said a second driver was taken to Floyd Medical Center in Rome for treatment, and that driver was in critical condition when taken from the scene.
According to Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome, Tutt and the second driver were both extricated from their vehicles after the wreck occurred at 7:24 p.m. following a head-on collision between both cars. The wreck occurred near the intersection of North Main and John Hand Drive.
Georgia State Patrol is continuing the investigation into the crash, Newsome said.
