Like all 16-year-olds, Devin Gilham has a number of loves in his life.

You name it, Devin likes it. Think all the things other 16-year-olds his age like: bikes, cars, vintage vehicles, ATVs, Minecraft, and Jack Black,

What most people do not know is that Gilham’s love is not one he can fully experience, since he is diagnosed with a rare disease called Hallermannstreiff Syndrome which effects 1 out of 168 kids.

Due to being diagnosed with this disease since the age of one, Gilham has encountered over 32 surgeries and now will have to face more surgeries as he is having to go through a Jaw Distraction surgery. Even with glasses, Devin is still legally blind, and so gets help from his mom Nickie with daily tasks.

With all the surgeries and doctors visits it gets overwhelming for the family, but Gilham, who is his mothers acclaimed hero, pushes through with all smiles.

A difficultly that the family faces is paying for all of Devin’s necessary doctors visits, his special made Glasses that are designed specifically for him, and all the surgeries. Even with Insurance the Gilham family still have to end up paying out of pocket, which sometimes does end up being pricey.

In order to gain funds to help go towards Gilham’s expenses, the Gilham family will be hosting their second annual Jeep and Car show. The upcoming fundraising event is being held on Saturday Oct. 14, set to last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It will be located in the Home Depot parking lot in Cedartown.

There will be an assortment of refreshments and food to choose from as well as an assortment of activities including a corn hole tournament, $5 raffles, the car show which includes a $15 show entry fee with prizes to follow at the end of the day, and a live performance by The Georgia Still Band, along with a chance to meet the hero himself, Devin Gilham.

All money go towards Gilham at this car show, but if you are not able to make it and your heart is set onto helping Gilham get the medical care he needs one can also visit his Gofund me page and donate.
