The tally continues to climb in Rockmart's school board run-off for the District 6 special election.

Board of Elections official put the total figure around 11 a.m. at 108 voters so far having come back to the polls one more time to decide who will take over the District 6 seat on a permanent basis.

Only voters in the Board of Education's District 6 are being asked to return to the polls one more time for just this run-off on Tuesday, Dec. 5 between interim school board member and retired educator Judy Wiggins and local business owner Chris Culver.

The pair secured enough votes to make it to a run-off in a three candidate race in the November election, but neither got enough to secure a victory.

Voters can head to the Nathan Dean Community Center at 60 Goodyear St. in Rockmart from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday to take part in the vote, but only those from District 6 are allowed to take part, and only those who were registered by the October deadline.

Ballots can also be cast for those in Cedartown on business from the district at the Board of Elections office at the Polk County Administration offices at 144 West Ave.

Rockmart's polling place will be open for voters next Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with results posted later in the evening for the contest.
