The winter break will be over for Polk School District after New Year’s, but they’ll get a few more days to enjoy Christmas presents as 2018 gets underway.
Parents will need to make sure their children are ready to head back to class on Monday, Jan. 8, a change in the schedule announced in past weeks following the snow event earlier in the month that kept schools closed for several days. The first day back from break was originally scheduled as an in-service day for faculty and staff.
Students will start back fresh in 2018 with a new semester instead of having to come back to take tests as they have in past years, but as soon as children are back their desks they have grades coming out.
Of additional note for parents coming up following break is report cards are being sent out on Wednesday, Jan. 10,
Just as students are getting back to work, they’ll be getting out of out of school for the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend holiday on Jan. 15.
Progress reports come out on Feb. 14, and the President’s Day weekend holiday is being held Feb. 19. The next major break for students will come up starting on April 9 for the Spring Break holiday.
