A Kingston man was arrested and jailed after a chase through Polk County Monday afternoon, according to arrest records and county police officials.
Capt. Perry Davis with the Polk County Police Department reported that Zachary Ryan Udell, 22, of a Kingston address, was jailed Monday after he was reported to have been driving on the wrong side of the road on Highway 100 near Lime Branch Baptist Church.
Police tried to stop Udell, who then fled from officers in his Jeep Wrangler and even ramming a patrol car in the rear and along the driver's side in attempt to get him to stop on Highway 27 near East Point Road.
Cedartown Police then assisted in the chase by deploying spike strips on Highway 27 North to flatten the tires of Udell's Jeep, which came to a stop at Lewis Road near the Polk County line.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and a hit and run charge, according to jail records.
Udell remained in the Polk County Jail and was being held without bond, with a hearing pending.
