The Lady Bulldogs are on a roll as the competition cheer team remains undefeated for 2017, winning over teams big and small in their recent road trip last Saturday.
Cedartown took the Grand Champion trophy once again in their latest competition at Hillgrove High School on Saturday, Oct. 7. It improved their record on the season to 4-0 on the season so far, and with perfection on the mind for a second year in a row the Lady Bulldogs pulled off a big day on the score sheets again, according to head coach Brigitte Tillery.
“Every week, like all sports, they work during practices to perfect and improve skills, and this week the cheerleaders did just that for the first time this season,” she aid. “They improved their scores and hit their routine.”
Tillery said that their division was only Cedartown and Central Carroll in last Saturday’s competition, their grand championship was earned by outscoring squads in every division, from single A to 7A and co-ed teams.
“I and Coach Ruff could not have been more proud of the team today for executing to almost the best of their ability with a few minor problematic areas remaining, such as stunts,” Tillery said. “They will work hard this week to improve the partner stunts because this is the weakest area on the score sheet.”
Although the Lady Bulldogs came away with double wins last Saturday, Tillery said the team still have areas to improve for the next two Invitational competitions at Carrollton and Woodstock high schools before they perform for the region competition in early November.
“The girls were amazing today (Saturday) and we are excited for their win and proud of their teamwork, sportsmanship, character and performance,” Tillery said. “We feel very blessed and fortunate to coach such an outstanding group of athletes.”
The team is back in action in two weeks with University of West Georgia hosting cheer squads for a Carrollton High School-organized invitational.
