Cedartown's baseball season will have to wait at least one more day before it gets underway as soggy field conditions and wet weather has forced cancellation of today's home opener.

"It's so wet out there, we'd need an ark to play on," Head Coach Doyle Kelley said of field conditions on Cedartown High School's baseball diamond this morning.

Kelley said he and Coosa head coach Will Wiggins are still working out the details for a make-up game, and are looking at potentially moving to a neutral site at LakePoint in Cartersville if conditions don't improve.

The hopes are that fields will dry out enough for Cedartown to get in the game before the end of the week, when the Bulldogs are expected to host Rockmart at 6 p.m. on Friday for the first of two contests on the schedule between the cross-county rivals.

Rockmart is expected to start their season Tuesday at home against Paulding County with a 5:30 p.m. start, weather pending.
