Aragon’s Christmas parade was originally scheduled for this Saturday, but now has been officially canceled due to low float participation and scheduling conflicts with other parts of the parade.

This year’s “Country Christmas” parade was to be the city’s second annual Christmas parade.

The town’s first Christmas parade in 2016 was primarily headed by the Rockmart High School band and did not feature a theme. Mayor Garry Baldwin acted as grand marshal.

He said this past Friday that scheduling conflicts with the bands and other organizations made the timing of the parade not work out.

Those still interested in seeing holiday floats, Santa, and other Christmas spectacles can visit Cedartown’s “Christmas on the Silver Screen” themed parade on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. If bad weather threatens the event, Cedartown has set a rain date of Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.

Aragon residents will also have a chance to see Santa Claus before his ride on Christmas Eve.

The city is hosting a free Selfies with Santa event on Dec. 16 starting at 2 p.m.
