American Legion helps out at holidays

The 74th annual Empty Stocking Fund wrapped up their holiday giving just ahead of Christmas, allowing the American Legion Post 12 to contribute back to the community once again.

According to a brief release from the organization, 125 children from 67 families were given toys for Christmas. 

Merchants who helped out and were greatly appreciated for their efforts were: Boy 

Scout Troop 17, Dean Insurance Agency, Derick Tilley Rent-to-Own, Eastside Elementary, Eby-Brown, Fairview Church Sunday School, the Lions Club, Polk County Sheriff's Department, Rockmart Police Department, Sandy's Auction, Triangle Foods, Van Wert Elementary and Walmart.

"We want to give a big thank you for their help," the release stated. "We could not do it without them."
