New computers installed at Cedartown library

Dave Daniels, IT coordinator for the Sara Hightower Regional Library system, spent Wednesday morning setting up eight new computers at the Cedartown Library.

The Cedartown library will soon be able to let the public have access to eight new computers purchased with the help of state funds.

Dave Daniels, the IT coordinator for the Sara Hightower Regional Library System, said the eight new machines purchased from Acer are a major upgrade for the library.

He said the new machines will run Windows with limited features for patrons to use on the computers.

One change he said was a positive for the public is the addition of DVD drives to the new computers.

"Originally we went away from DVDs and CDs because we were concerned about piracy and copyright enforcement," he said. "We have them back on all the computers, but with the disc burning features taken off."

Daniels said the new computers would be available for use this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
