In honor of the new upcoming Chick-fil-A, that is expected to be up and running around the beginning of September, The franchisee, Zach Thomas threw a “cow grazing” party.

Thomas, a franchise owner in Marietta, veteran and Cedartown-area resident announced in March that Chick-fil-A is coming to Rockmart next to El Nopal off Nathan Dean Parkway.

Whoever was able to make it to this event received free chicken sandwich coupons, free samples of lemonade and sweet tea, and music accompanied with dancing cows to celebrate this upcoming restaurant.

“This was to create awareness and just have fun,” Thomas said. “We thought that we should get the cows to ‘graze’ the grass before we broke ground and started construction.”

Thomas said the new Chick-fil-A location is expected to open on Sept. 7.

Cars lined up parked down the strip to come be a part of the event in excitement for the new restaurant that is coming to their hometown.

“I am just excited to see Rockmart grow and get new things,” said local resident Jose Mendez. “And i also love Chick-fil-A so I am just overall happy about this coming to Rockmart.”

Thomas is having to give up his Marietta franchise at MacLand Crossing for the new store.

He said previously he had wanted to bring Chick-fil-A to Rockmart or Cedartown when he first took over the store at MacLand Crossing, but it took time to convince the corporate executives to make the move.

Thomas said the new store will be one of the largest locations ever built for the franchise, mirroring the size and layout a store located in Peachtree City.
