Anniversary screenings of “Schindler’s List,” a collection of Christmas movie classics and a Jim Henson throwback are part of the specialty cinema showings this week in the Tulsa area.

NEW AT CIRCLE CINEMA

“Maria By Callas”: Legendary opera singer Maria Callas is showcased in this documentary in her own words through performances, interviews, home movies and more. A 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, showtime will be introduced by Aaron Beck, the artistic administrator and the director of education for Tulsa Opera.

“Coming to America”: The Eddie Murphy comedy favorite from 1989 gets the late-night treatment with 10 p.m. showings Fridays and Saturdays.

“Oliver Twist”: The Circle’s “Second Saturday Silents” series of monthly silent films continues with an 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, screening of the 1922 version of Charles Dickens’ story starring Jackie Coogan. Live theater pipe organ accompaniment will be provided by the Sooner State Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society.

“Schindler’s List”: The Steven Spielberg masterpiece about the Holocaust, and the 1993 winner of seven Oscars including best picture, returns to theaters for the film’s 25th anniversary screenings at Broken Arrow Warren Theatre and AMC Southroads 20.

“Jim Henson’s Holiday Special”: The 1977 TV special “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas” and the 1985 “Fraggle Rock” episode “The Bells of Fraggle Rock” are paired for this event celebrating Jim Henson’s creations. Screenings of this 90-minute presentation are set for 4 and 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, and 1 and 4 p.m. Dec. 16 at Cinemark Tulsa and Cinemark Broken Arrow.

“Bumblebee” early-access screenings: This “Transformers” movie prequel opens everywhere Dec. 21, but you can see it much earlier in 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, showings at Broken Arrow Warren Theatre and Cinemark Tulsa.

“A Christmas Story”: The Broken Arrow Warren Theatre is featuring $5 Christmas movies this season, and this week, it’s “A Christmas Story” at noon Saturday, Dec. 8.

“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”: The holiday comedy classic shows at 4 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, and Thursday, Dec. 13, at Starworld 20.
