Run for Your Life 5K date
Gordon Hospital Foundation announces

(Calhoun, Ga.) — Registration is now open for Gordon Hospital's annual Run for Your Life 5K Race. The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Calhoun City Recreation Department. In addition to the 5K race for adults and students ages 13 and older, a Children's Fun Run will take place at 5 p.m. All proceeds raised from this event will benefit breast cancer services at Gordon Hospital.

You can register for the Run for Your Life 5K by visiting www.raceroster.com and searching "Gordon Hospital Run for Your Life." If you prefer not to register online, you can complete a registration form and mail it back to the Gordon Hospital Foundation along with your entry fee. Registration forms for both races can be found at www.gordonhospital.com, which can be printed off and mailed in to the foundation with your entry fee to: Wendy Taylor, P.O. Box 12938, Calhoun, GA 30703.

The cost of the race is:

$15 students ages 6 - 18

$20 before Sept.

29 $25 between Sept. 29-Oct. 17

$30 on race day

$10 Fun Run (ages 12 and under)

Race day check-in and registration begins at 4 p.m. at the Calhoun City Recreation Department at the black and gold pavilion and playground (next to the George Chambers Resource Center). Calhoun City Schools attends Grand Opening for the Junior Achievement Discovery Center

Calhoun City Schools is proud to be a premier partner with Forsyth County Schools to allow all 6th and 8th grade students the opportunity to explore the Junior Achievement Discovery Center, which held its grand opening ton Thursday, Aug. 24, 2018. The Mike and Lynn Cottrell JA Discovery Center is an immersive 25,000 square foot facility located on the campus of the Alliance Academy of Innovation, a Forsyth County School. In partnership with local school and business communities, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park will serve more than 15,000 local students annually, empowering them with the knowledge, capacity and motivation to thrive.

College and Career Programs Director Dr. Brandi Hayes, Assistant Principals Casey Parker, Superintendent Dr. Michele Taylor, Calhoun Middle/High School Principal Dr. Peter Coombe and Assistant Principal Jaime Garrett attended the celebration.


Georgia Power named CCA's 2018 Business Partner of the Year

Georgia Power was chosen as the 2018 Business Partner of the Year at the 11th Annual Lt. Governor Casey Cagle's Business and Education Summit held Aug. 27 in Albany. Georgia Power was nominated by both Gordon and Floyd County College and Career Academies for their partnership with the two academies and the involvement of Elyse Davis, Northwest Georgia's Community Manager for Community and Economic Development, on both of the Boards of Directors.

Georgia Power is actively involved in 20 CCA governing boards and business partnerships throughout the state. This innovative company has sought to develop skilled employees, taking a leading role in ensuring a robust and dynamic workforce is employed across the state of Georgia.
