Little Aliviah Faith Gridley

Aliviah Faith Gridley, 2, of 221 Atlanta Street, Cedartown, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 in Conway, S.C.

She was born at Floyd Medical Center on Oct. 24, 2003, daughter of Timmy Mort Gridley and Angela Christine Wilson Gridley. She attended the Silver Creek Church of God.

Surviving are her parents; a sister, Brittany Gridley of Cedartown; two brothers, Tyler Gridley and Brandon Gridley, both of Cedartown; grandparents, Joy Wilson of Avon Park, Fla. and Ronnie and Freda Wilson of Wauchula, Fla.; great grandmothers, Wanda Wilson of Wauchula and Joann Livesay of Lakeland, Fla.; three aunts, Tina Fewlox, Dora Nelson and Lena Marin; three uncles, Danny Wilson, Arthur Gridley and Jim Gridley; several great aunts, great uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Silver Creek Church of God with the Rev. Dennis Morgan, the Rev. Jason Stringer and the Rev. Michael Edwards officiating.

Interment followed in Rome Memorial Park with the Rev. Elgin Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Chris Clark, Clay Clark, Daniel Nelson and Daniel Jones.

Henderson and Sons Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McGatha

Mr. Billy Floyd McGatha, 44, of Centre (McCords crossroads community) passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at his residence.

Mr. McGatha was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Murney Bud Franklin and Alverita Doss McGatha and was employed by HON Manufacturing Co. in Cedartown.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Bobby Joe, Wayne and Matthew McGatha.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Haney McGatha of Centre; son, Dalton McGatha of Centre; daughter, Brandie McGatha of Oxford, Ala.; brothers (and sisters-in-law), Richard (Dana) McGatha, Joel (Marie) McGatha, Tony (Joan) McGatha, Harley (Alecia) McGatha, Guy (Patty) McGatha, Daniel (Sue) McGatha and Bud Franklin (Gail) McGatha all of Centre; sisters, Lovella (Ronnie) Morris and Shirley (Larry) Buttram all of Centre and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Raniey officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Shane Buttram, Waylon McGatha, Brent McGatha, Chris Slayton, Justin McGatha, Daryl Mackey, Tim Mackey and Thomas McGatha.

The Perry Funeral Home of Centre had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Womack

Mrs. Sarah Brookshire Womack, 82, of Cedartown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005.

Mrs. Womack was born Aug. 12, 1923 in Floyd County, the daughter of the late Bessie Stokes Brookshire and the late James Willis Brookshire. She was a retired Klopman-Burlington Mills employee and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Joe K. Womack in 1980; three brothers, Turner, Carl, and Roscoe Brookshire.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Faye and Emory Hughes of Cedartown, and Joyce Owens of Cedartown; three brothers, Ben Brookshire of Amelia, Va., Dook Brookshire of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Doyle Brookshire of Amelia, Va.; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 in the family lot of Aragon Cemetery, with Rev. John Hooper officiating.

The following were asked to serve as pallbearers: Gene Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Mitch Hanson, Stephen Baker, Mark Floyd and Marty McClain.

Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
