Law enforcement agents arrested two people on drug charges following execution of a search warrant in the Ellisville Community Thursday, March 16. The search took place at a residence on Cherokee County Road 14.
Arrested, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, were Shawn Daniels, 32, who was charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. and Paige Jelks, 24, who was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jelks was an employee of the Cherokee County Detention Center according to the press release from Sheriff Shaver.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver stated, “Public employees are to be held to a higher standard, and it is very disappointing when an employee fails to meet that standard.” Shaver emphasized, “Our Office will not tolerate those who abuse the trust that has been placed in them. Our employees are here to protect, serve and uphold the law, not violate it."
