CENTRE - Cade Clark came away with 19 points, six rebounds, two blocked shots and an assist to lead the Sand Rock Wildcats to a 52-40 victory over the Gaylesville Trojans in the opening round of the Cherokee County Tournament on Thursday at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena.

Jack Riley Boyd added 13 points for the Wildcats. Carson Carver contributed eight points and Bradon Carver finished with seven points.

Austin Slayton led the Trojans with 17 points. Josh Bradley and Austin Stordahl both finished with eight points.

Sand Rock led at each of the quarter breaks. The Wildcats held a 12-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 21-15 at halftime. Sand Rock extended its lead to 37-24 at the end of three quarters.

Gaylesville managed to cut its deficit to nine at 49-40 on a bucket by Landon Lawson with 1:06 remaining, but could get no closer.

Sand Rock advances to face top-seeded Cherokee County on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Girls

Cedar Bluff 61, Gaylesville 25

CENTRE - Matison Bedwell tossed in 18 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers past Gaylesville 61-25 in the Cherokee County Tournament on Thursday.

Alexis Smith added 12 points, 11 rebounds and blocked two shots. Julianne Wilson and Ollina McClellan both contributed nine points. Wilson also grabbed 11 boards and McClellan secured eight.

Savannah Coker led the Lady Trojans with 11 points. Adrianna Valencia finished with eight points.

Cedar Bluff held a 13-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter, then went on a 29-5 run in the second to blow the game open at 42-11. The Lady Tigers led 58-19 at the end of three quarters.

Cedar Bluff advances to meet top-seeded Sand Rock on Friday at 4 p.m.

B-Team Boys Tournament

Cedar Bluff 48, Spring Garden 39

CENTRE - Jay Marshall scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Cedar Bluff B-team boys past Spring Garden in the Cherokee County Tournament semifinals on Thursday at the Gadsden State-Cherokee Arena.

Luke Hampton added nine points for the Tigers. Camaron McDaniel and Trevon Clifton both finished with five points.

Isaiah Sanchez and Stephen Smith both led the Panthers with 16 points apiece.

Cedar Bluff led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter and built a 28-17 lead at halftime. Spring Garden cut its deficit to 35-29 at the end of the third quarter and outscored the Tigers 13-10 in the fourth, but fell short in its comeback attempt.

Cedar Bluff advances to the B-team boys championship game against Cherokee County, a 54-21 winner over Sand Rock in the tournament's other semifinal game on Thursday. The B-team boys championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m.

Cherokee County 54, Sand Rock 21

CENTRE - The Cherokee County Warrior B-team jumped out to a 17-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter and built a 36-7 halftime advantage to cruise past Sand Rock 54-21 in the Cherokee County Tournament semifinals on Thursday.

Luke Goss led the Warriors with 12 points. Jayleon Henderson sank three treys and finished with nine points. Julian Latty also tossed in nine points.

Tanner Clanton led the Wildcats with nine points.

Cherokee County advances to the B-team boys championship game against Cedar Bluff on Saturday at 4 p.m.
