Mr. Weldon Zeddie Cothran, 90, of Piedmont passed away Saturday, July 08, 2017 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Services for Mr. Cothran will be Monday, July 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Gnatville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 p.m. until time for service. 

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Margaret Cothran; son, Don Cothran (Pam) of Tallapoosa, Ga.; daughter, Karen Manarin (Dave) of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Andrew Cothran (Erin), Hannah Cothran, and Katy Dodt (Michal); one great grandchild, Harper Kate Cothran; one expected great granddaughter, baby Dodt; one brother, Hollis Cothran (Carolyn) of Rome, Ga.; two sisters, Myra Sanford and Melba Kiser both of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cothran was born and raised in Cherokee County. He was a 1945 graduate of Cherokee County High School and WWII Veteran, where he was stationed in Japan. He loved learning about WWII, farming, working on his tractor, and talking. He was an avid reader and could fix anything. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Cothran; brother, Joe Cothran; sisters, Betty McCallister, Zera Roberts, and Barbara Jenkins. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to favorite charity.
