FORT PAYNE - Jaren Lockridge made sure the Class 4A, No. 8 Cherokee County Warriors would end baseball's regular season on a high note Wednesday. He blasted a home run in the second and another home run in the fifth as part of a four-hit afternoon in the Warriors' 10-2 victory at Fort Payne.
Colin Edwards collected three hits for the Warriors (21-8), including a double with two RBIs. Noah Ledbetter added a pair of hits, including a double.
For the game, the Warriors pounded out 14 hits, which provided plenty of run support for Christian Stinson.
Stinson earned the win on the mound after tossing 1 2/3 innings of hitless ball. Six relievers helped Warriors close out the victory, including Josh Decker, who threw 1 1/3 innings.
Cherokee County now prepares to travel to Danville (19-11) to begin the state playoffs. A doubleheader is scheduled for Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m. A third game, if necessary, will be played Saturday at 1 p.m.
