Georgia and Alabama law enforcement agents arrested a fugitive from Georgia at a residence in Cherokee County Wednesday, March 15.

Arrested, according to a press release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, was Danny E. Moon, 59, who was at a residence in the McCord's Community where he had been staying at the time of his arrest. Moon is a register sex offender in Polk County, Ga. and is wanted in Georgia on sex offender registration related charges.

According to Sheriff Shaver, Cherokee County Sheriff's office investigators assisted the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force in the apprehension of Moon.

He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on a new Alabama Sex Offender Registration Notification Act violation and awaits extradition to Polk County, Shaver said.
