Dekalb County authorities are investigating a shooting death in the Henager area.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports that around 12:48 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, DeKalb County Deputies received a BOLO from Jackson County for a red Ford Ranger truck that was involved in a shooting. Deputies located the vehicle at Ider Church of Christ on Hwy 75. Deputies, Ider Police, and Henagar Police searched the area around the Church and a hayfield in the back of the Church.
During the search, Harris said, they found a body of a white male with a gunshot wound to the head. Jackson County and DeKalb County Investigators were called to the scene. The body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for a positive identification of the body. This is an ongoing investigation.
Sheriff Harris states “it appears to be a domestic violence situation but it is early in the investigation. We are working in conjunction with Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips and his Investigators on this case. Thank you to the Ider Police, Henagar Police, Deputies, DeKalb and Jackson Investigators for the great work on this case.”
