MONTGOMERY — Transportation Director John Cooper has appointed veteran Department of Transportation employee Curtis Vincent as Region Engineer for the North Region effective April 1, 2016.
The position of region engineer is appointed by the transportation director, with duties that include the planning, design, construction, maintenance and repair of Alabama’s state, U.S. and interstate highway network.
Vincent is replacing retiring North Region Engineer Johnny Harris. Mr. Harris is concluding more than 48 years of service with the Department of Transportation. He began as a project inspector and advanced to the positions of project engineer, district engineer, assistant division engineer and division engineer prior to being appointed as region engineer for the North Region.
Vincent graduated from Auburn University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. After graduating, he worked for the Department of Public Works in Leon County, Fla. as a Design Engineer. He began his career with ALDOT in 1988 in the Design Bureau as a civil engineer graduate. Over the next ten years he served in many positions including project engineer and assistant design engineer. He was later appointed to division engineer for the Eighth Division in Grove Hill and in 2012 he became the state construction engineer. Vincent is a voting member of the AASHTO subcommittee on construction.
