NGAC Wrestling: Trojans still unbeaten as NGAC Duals approach

Gordon Lee Middle School will take a perfect 20-0 dual meet record into Saturday's North Georgia Athletic Conference Duals at Trion.

Gordon Lee 44, Trion 34

The Trojans faced one of their toughest tests during a tri-match with the Bulldogs on Nov. 30, but the Navy-and-White were able to claim the win.

Starting at 72 pounds, Trion led 18-7 after the first five matches. Gordon Lee worked their way back to a 31-18 advantage with four straight wins, but Trion would win at 140, 150 and 165 to reclaim a 34-31 lead with three bouts to go. However, one final pin and two minor decisions allowed the Trojans to pull out the victory.

Gordon Lee got pins from Cade Peterson (108), Garrison Dendy (115) and Garrett Morton (220), minor decisions by Conner Fine (78), Jackson Moore (180) and Dylan Burnett (275, a major decision from Bryce James (86) and forfeit wins by Troy Plemons (123) and Wyatt McDonald (130).

Gordon Lee 70, Darlington 7

The other part of the tri-match saw the Trojans rough up the Tigers, who had just nine wrestlers available.

Plemons, Landon Bradley and Nathan Hunley won by pinfall, while Hayden Brewer and Jack Lowery won minor decisions. Dendy faced Luke McDermot, a GISA state champion whol recently placed eighth in the USA preseason nationals in Iowa, and won 10-0.

Gordon Lee 69, LaFayette 15

On Tuesday, the Trojans took down the Ramblers during a tri-match at Chattanooga Valley.

Gordon Lee got pins from Wil Tumblin (72), Fine (78), James (86), Penn Askew (94), Tanner Wilson (100), Peterson (108), Plemons (115), Dendy (123), Kameron Oliver (150), Morton (180) and Burnett (275). Logan Butler (130) won a 6-2 minor decision.

LaFayette's wins came on pins from Hunter Deal (140) and Cody Cook (165), while Gabe Ratliff (220) won a minor decision.

Gordon Lee 84, Chattanooga Valley 4

Against the Eagles, pins came from Tumblin (72), Fine (78), James (86), Askew (94), Wilson (100), Peterson (108), Plemons (115), Butler (130), Dylan Crawford (140), Cody Thomas (150), Morton (180) and Burnett (220), while Dendy (123) and Canaan Underwood (275) each won by forfeit.

The Eagles' points came on a major decision win by Kyle Brown (165).

LaFayette 63, Chattanooga Valley 24

The night's other match saw the Ramblers score a win over the Eagles.

LaFayette got pins from Preston Alexander (94), Hector Velez (100), Jacob Brown (108), Jacob Zwiger (123), Mason Alexander (130), Deal (140), Jacob Moses (150), Bryce Blackmon (180) and Ratliff (220). Devin Surrett (115) won by points and Eli Prince (275) won by forfeit.

Individual winners for CVMS were not provided as of press time.
