The LaFayette Middle School Ramblers improved to 6-1 overall with a 60-25 thumping of Trion on Thursday night.
LaFayette led 22-14 after one quarter then proceeded to hold the Bulldogs to just 11 points over the next three periods of play.
Dakota Cathey scored 10 of his 16 points in the first quarter and finished with four of the Ramblers' 10 treys on the night. Alex Kelehear also hit four threes and finished with 16 points to go with eight steals. Rylan Russell sunk the other two treys and added eight points, while Andrew Pendergrass scored just four points, but grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots.
The Lady Ramblers were also victorious on Thursday, using a 13-point fourth quarter to pull out a 31-25 win as they improved to 4-3 overall.
Ziyah Underwood scored 10 points and came through in the clutch by sinking 6-of-8 free throws in the final period. Shayla Youngblood added nine points, while Emily Redden chipped in with eight.
LaFayette will take the court again on Jan. 9 at Ringgold to begin the stretch drive toward the NGAC tournament Feb. 3-7.
