Lady Bobcats fall twice in Florida

The Georgia Northwestern women's basketball found the going tough at the Florida College Invitational over the weekend as they dropped to 0-10 on the season following a 94-32 loss to Trinity (Fla.) on Friday night and a 63-22 setback to the (USCAA Division I) No. 9-ranked host school on Saturday.

Sophomore Carrie Benedict was the Lady Bobcats' leading scorer on Friday as she had a season-high 13 points to go with five rebounds and a pair of steals. Sharqueva "Bunny" McCoy added eight points and had a team-high 15 rebounds.

Sprite Dyer finished with five points, 10 boards and three assists. Katy Phillips had four points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals in the loss, while Taylor Hines had two points and five boards for the short-handed Lady Bobcats.

Phillips was the leading scorer on Saturday with nine points. She also had three rebounds and three steals. Benedict added six points, four boards and a block, while Dyer picked up four points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal.

McCoy added three points, two steals and led the team with eight rebounds. Hines chipped in with two boards and two steals.

Georgia Northwestern will be back on the road this Tuesday (Jan. 10) when they travel to Alabama to face Judson College in the second meeting of the year between the two teams. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
