The Gordon Lee Middle School Lady Trojans improved to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in North Georgia Athletic Conference play with a 50-31 victory over Lakeview on Thursday.

Gordon Lee led 19-6 after one quarter and steadily built their lead throughout the rest of the game.

Faith Alexander had 12 points for the Lady Trojans, while Katelyn O'Toole pitched in with eight.

In the nightcap, the Trojans rallied from an 18-17 halftime deficit to lead 37-32 entering the fourth quarter. However, it would be the Warriors getting the upper hand in the final period as they went on to a 51-47 victory.

Kannen Derryberry had 18 points, five rebounds, and three steals in a losing effort for Gordon Lee (4-3, 3-3). Hayden Murphy added 10 points, while Justin Wooden finished with five.

Floyd EMA: Are you prepared for winter weather?

While many consider the snow and ice that accompanies the winter season to be scenic, people can forget that winter weather has the potential to devastate communities and affect thousands of people. Snow and ice can disrupt transportation and cause power outages, making it important for Floyd residents to be prepared. Floyd Co. EMA and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security’s Ready Georgia campaign is urging Floyd residents to take time to get ready for potentially disastrous weather emergencies this winter.
