Here are results of Tuesday’s election for the state House 2 seat: Steve Tarvin, 1,072 votes (38 percent); Neal Florence, 964 votes (34 percent); Doug Woodruff, 774 votes, 28 percent.

This special election is necessary to replace Jay Neal, who has been appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to a position with the state’s Department of Corrections, where he will serve as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Transition, Support and Re-entry.

House District 2 includes the southern precincts of Walker County, from Rock Spring south and east to Armuchee Valley, as well as three precincts in southern Catoosa County and three precincts in western Whitfield County.
