Officials with the city of LaFayette have multiple reports from citizens who report receiving phone calls telling them their power would be disconnected unless their bills were not paid immediately.

This is a scam to steal identities and credit card information, officials said.

No one from the city will ever call to threaten disconnection or call and ask for credit/debit card information over the telephone.

If you have questions or tips to share that can help stop this scam and lead to the arrest of those involved should call the LaFayette Police Department 706-639-1540.
