Charline Long, 79

Maryville

Charline "Granny" Long of Maryville died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014. She was 79.

She had lived in the Chattanooga and north Georgia areas for most of her life before moving to Maryville in 1999 and was of the Christian faith.

She was previously employed with Parkridge Medical Center as a CNA for many years before retiring in 1984 and enjoyed sewing and making crafts.

She was completely devoted to loving and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Willie Ann Jones; grandson, John Perry, Jr. and her son-in-law, Danny Clay Lowery.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Billy and (Diane) Long of Rossville, Vicki Long Lowery of Chickamauga, Ricky "Peanut" and (Donna) Long of Dalton, Randy and (Carol) Long of Chickamauga, and Robbie and (Fairy) Long of Maryville, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Nick and (Brenda) Jones of Riceville, Tenn.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and (Carson) Madewell of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Wanda and (Victor) Calfee of Cleveland, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Bud Stiltner officiating. Burial: Lakewood South Memory Gardens. Visitation: Tuesday, Jan. 17 after 6 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Beatrice Pike Bailey, 88

Kingsport, Tenn.

Beatrice Pike Bailey of Kingsport, Tennessee, formerly of Lafayette, died on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. She was 88.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Frank Henry and Delia Massey Pike and was preceded in death by six brothers, Gene, Roy, Rayford, Joe, Frank and Marshall; and one sister Grace “Sally” Pike.

She was a very active member of Caney Branch Volunteer Fire Department while she lived in Greene County. She was always assisting with anything needed at the fire department.

She was also a very active member of the Caney Branch Home Demonstration Club (FCE) and served as president of the St. James PTA.

She was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend who will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Wayne Bailey; children and spouses, Henry and Jamie Bailey, Johnson City, Tenn., Jacqui and Jack Belcher, San Antonio, Texas., Janet and Terry Thomas, Round Rock, and Jennie and Joey Greene, Gray, Tenn..; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Owens, Bethany Hensley, Megan Bailey, Jenna Bailey, Candith Bailey, Titan Thomas, and Taurus Thomas; great-grandson, James Owens; nieces, Carolyn May, Delia Bollinger, and Sandra Barbato; nephews, Allen Pike, Gene Pike and Bill Pike.

Graveside service: Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. in the Lafayette City Cemetery.

Arrangements by: the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.

Billy Creathers, 62

LaFayette

Mr. Billy Careathers of LaFayette died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014. He was 62.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dennis (J. D.) and Esther Burse Careathers and brother, Benny Careathers.

Survivors include his children, Jennifer Careathers of Atlanta, and Billy Van Careathers of Miami, Fla.; sister, Sandra (Ernest) Bailey of Madison; brothers, Joseph Dennis Careathers of LaFayette and Minister Paul (Johnequia) Careathers of Chattanooga, Tenn.; uncles, J. L. (Flossie) Burse, James Burse of LaFayette, and Phillip (Bertha) Burse of Ft. Oglethorpe; aunts, Bessie Morris, Mary Careathers of Chattanooga, and Gustavia Clemons of Kensington; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral service: Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m.. at Cove Road Church of God with Minister Paul Careathers, Eulogist and Rev. Jerry L. Burse, Presiding. Visitation: Monday, Jan. 13 from 7-8 p.m. at the church. Burial: Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 11:30 a. m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
