"Painting For a Purpose," the fund-raising paint party to benefit the 6th Cavalry Museum was held Thursday, Nov. 10, with museum board president Durinda Cheek as the instructor. This was the fifth class offered in 2016 and featured a fall landscape and the iconic "Rock City" tourism message.
The next class will be offered in January. Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite beverage and an apron or old shirt to protect clothes. Canvases are pre-sketched with Cheek demonstrating painting techniques, how to mix colors and individualized instruction so each guest finishes their painting that night.
Cost is $40 and includes dinner, all painting supplies and instruction so each guest leaves with a completed 16 x 20 acrylic work of art.
Proceeds from Painting for a Purpose benefits the 6th Cavalry Museum. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited to 20 participants.
