COMMUNITY · There will be a New Year's Eve gathering and dance from 8 p.m. until midnight at the Chattooga County Memorial Home, in Summerville, tonight. Music by Erik Garmany and there will be door prizes. For more information call 706-857-1614.

COMMUNITY · The Catoosa County Library board of trustee will hold its regular quarterly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 9. The board will gather at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of the library located at 108 Catoosa Circle, Benton Place Campus, in Ringgold.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

COMMUNITY · On Saturday, Jan. 9, the fourth annual Southern Charm Wedding Expo will be held at the Ringgold Depot. This is a free event that includes everything for brides-to-be and weddings. For more information call 706-935-3061 or visit cityofringgold.com online.

COMMUNITY · Lookout Mountain CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) needs volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children of Catoosa, Dade, and Walker Counties who are in foster care. COMMUNITY · The public is invited to attend the swearing – in ceremony of Fort Oglethorpe’s new council members today at city hall. At 11:30 a.m., Judge Winston Webb will administer the oath to Earl Gray, Craig Crawford and Paula Stinnett.

COMMUNITY · Melva Floyd, volunteer coordinator for United Hospice, is seeking volunteers. Volunteers help others as good neighbors providing friendship and doing small tasks. COMMUNITY · Blood Assurance asks residents to consider donating blood and “give the gift of life” during this holiday season. Donors must be at least 17-years-old (16-years-old with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors are eligible to give blood every 56 days.
