Roy and Dorothy Keef, of Ringgold, Ga., celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary, June 1, 2014. The couple was married June 1, 1959. They have three children, Karen Farrow, Roy Edward Keef Jr. (Eddie) and Dana Keef (deceased) and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
David and Marlene Chapman of High Point celebrated 55 years of marriage on Aug. 5 by retracing their honeymoon trip to Bryson City and Cherokee, N.C., in the Great Smokey Mountains. They drove to Ducktown, Tenn., and started their trip from the steps of Mine City Baptist Church where they were married in 1954. They followed the same roads they trav-eled back then and even found the same motel where they spent the first night, although they choose to stay just across the river at a wonderful bed-and-breakfast. There, they were presented with white roses from the innkeepers to help celebrate the occasion.
Bill and Sarah Hollingsworth of Dalton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 18. A surprise reception and dinner was hosted at Garcia's. They have two sons, Mike Hollingsworth and Steve and Suzanne Hollingsworth. They also have two granddaughters, Abby and Brandon Elliott, and Hannah Hollingsworth; a step-granddaughter Emily Etheridge; and one great-granddaughter Reece Elliott.
Carolyn and Charles Turner celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 1. They celebrated with a multi-nation dinner which was hosted By Dr. Catherine Turner and Christine and Jose Guajardo. The Guajardos were the emcees for a skit about the lives of the Turners. Dr. Lamar Brown represented Charles Turner and Mary Lou Brown portrayed Carolyn Turner. Members of the family made cameo appearances. Included were Gary Fillers, Tommy Fill-ers and Mark Fillers. In lieu of gifts, participants in the celebration brought non-perishable food items for Christ Share and Care Mission. A truck load of food items were delivered to the mission by Nancy and Leland Davis.
Kenneth and Tressie Estus will celebrate 50 years of marriage in July. Their children, grand-children and family invite all friends and relatives to attend a reception honoring this golden anniversary on Sunday, July 19, from 2-4 p.m. at Central Avenue Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Trion.
Scott and Mary Ann Henry celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 28, 2009. When the couple originally met, she was a student at the University of Georgia and he was a student at Georgia Tech. While in college, in order to date, Scott would make frequent trips to Athens, Ga., hitch-hiking, to see Mary Ann. After they were married, Scott worked for Combustion as an engineer and Mary Ann taught school. They have two sons, Scott and Michael. The cou-ple are life residents of Ringgold and active members of Rock Springs United Methodist Church. They are members of the Good Sams Camping Club, where they have made many friends. To celebrate the special occasion, the couple spent a week in Sunny Side Beach, Fla. At the end of the week, their children and grandchildren joined them to celebrate the special occasion with a seafood dinner at the Pirate Ship Restaurant.
James and Anne Smallwood of Chickamauga celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Heritage House in Chattanooga, Tenn., on June 14. The reception was hosted by their three sons, Jim, Jeff and Ben, and grandchildren. They were married June 12, 1959 at First Methodist Church in Batesville, Miss. They have nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Harry and Sue Gordon of Tunnel Hill will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 28. The Gordons married in1949 and have lived in the Tunnel Hill area throughout their married lives. They are pleased to invite family and friends to join their anniversary celebration by attending a drop-in reception in their honor. The reception will be June 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. at their home at 13456 Highway 41 North in Tunnel Hill.
Anita and Walter C. Holcomb of Chickamauga celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 24 with a party given by their children and friends at St. Gerard’s Hall in Fort Ogle-thorpe. They have 10 children, 26 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
