Catoosa County sheriff's detectives are investigating the theft of approximately $4,000 worth of firearms from a Ringgold residence.

According to the Sheriff's Department, the theft occurred at residence on Alexander Road in Ringgold sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 19.

The victim told police he left four of his guns in the outbuilding next to his home after cleaning them but found them missing the next morning, reports show.

The guns stolen guns included a .9mm Luger handgun, Colt 45 revolver, Smith & Wesson double-action revolver, and a 20-gauge pump shotgun.

Luckily, the victim was able to provide deputies and detectives with serial number information for all of the stolen guns.

"He (the victim) was unable to provide any leads or suspect information," Deputy Carmi Smith said. "We had Catoosa County communication enter the firearms into the National and Georgia Crime Information Center databases."
