The LFO Warriors got an individual championship from Nathan Williams at 182 pounds as they went on to place sixth overall in the 11-team Murray County Invitational Saturday in Chatsworth.
LFO finished with 101 points, putting them just out of the top five. Coahulla Creek won a close battle for the overall championship. The Colts finished with 166.5 points, just two points ahead of the host Indians and three points ahead of Dalton.
Adairsville (127.5) was fourth, while Riverside Military Academy (104) took fifth. Ridgeland sent its junior varsity wrestlers to compete and placed 10th overall with 31 points.
For LFO, Williams went 3-0 with one pin. Jerry Jackson (113) and Noah Shelton (132) both went 2-1 with two pins as each wrestler finished second in his respective weight class. Meanwhile, Johnathan Cutcher (170) received two byes and automatically advanced to the semifinals. He also finished as runner-up after going 1-1. Kameron Peters (HWT) was 3-1 with two pins and ended up third.
Alec Gentry (145) and Dylan Simpson (220) each went 1-2 with one pin for the Warriors.
For Ridgeland, Garrett Romans (106) was 2-1 and finished second in his class. Dagon Turner (113) was 2-2 with two pins. Tommy Lamb (220) and T.J. Atkins (285) were both 1-2, while Lamb's win came by pin.
