The LaFayette Ramblers had one individual champion and collected enough points to earn the team runner-up trophy at the 2017 Tri-State Invitational Saturday at Ringgold High School.

LaFayette’s 113 points put them trailing only Coahulla Creek (147) after the final points had been tallied. Northwest Whitfield (107.5), Dalton (102) and Ringgold (99.5) rounded out the top five, while the rest of the field included Darlington (87.5), Trion (76.5), Kell (70) and Cartersville (45).

Freshman Hector Velez was the lone champion for the Ramblers as he took first in the 106-pound class.

Karson Ledford (126), Tyler Beard (182) and Cody Deal (220) all finished second. Brady Beard (160) was third, while Cameron Hollingsworth (170) and Matthew Wallin (285) both were fourth.

As for the host Tigers, Braden Milling (113), Holden Moss (132), Trevor Milling (145) and Griffin Green (152) all were runner-up in their respective weight classes. Logan Skeen (120) and Ethan Rohrer (126) both took third, while Jarrett Fuqua (152) and Malachi Parker (182) were both fourth.

Both teams will be in action on Tuesday. LaFayette will participate in the Hillgrove Duals, while Ringgold will test itself at the Cartersville Duals.
