Gordon Lee senior Braden Jarvis is still undefeated on the season (37-0) after winning the Class 1A state sectionals at Irwin County High School on Saturday. Jarvis took first place at 170 pounds and will head to Macon for the state finals this upcoming weekend.
Jarvis will have company in Macon. Hunter Burnette (106) and Jarrett Lassetter (160) both finished as sectional runner-up. Tomy Duke (113) and Caleb Vines (220) each placed third, while Logan Butler (138) will be a state alternate after a fifth-place finish.
At the Class 3A state sectionals at Bremen High School over the weekend, Griffin Green won at 145 pounds for the Ringgold Tigers. He will be joined at the state tournament in Macon by Holden Moss (132) and Malachi Parker (170), both of whom placed fourth.
Kameron Peters finished third at 285 pounds for LFO, while Jacob Brown was fourth at 152. Three more Warriors, Noah Shelton (132), Johnathan Cutcher (170) and Nathan Williams (182), all earned fifth place and will be alternates at state.
The Ridgeland Panthers will send five wrestlers to the state tournament in Macon this weekend, two of which will be going as sectional champions.
At the Class 4A state sectional at Woodward Academy this weekend, Jordan Hughley won at 138 pounds, while Jacob Mariakis climbed to the top of the podium at 145.
Ryan McGill (170) finished second. Dylan Swanson (160) was fifth and Tommy Lamb (220) placed eighth.
Heritage had two wrestlers who had to drop out of the tournament due to illness, but the Generals will still be taking six to state.
Ryan Craft won the 106-pound title. Spencer Davies was fourth at 160, while Drake Parker was fourth at 182. Garrett Stephens was fifth at 138, while Alex Eacret (170) and Zach Brown (195) each placed eighth.
LaFayette will be represented at state tournament by two seniors. Tyler Beard took first at 182 pounds, while Cody Deal won the 220-pound weight class.
