Ringgold's Griffin Green was the top local finisher from the combined Catoosa/Walker County area during the second and final day of the McCallie Invitational wrestling tournament in Chattanooga.
Green took third place at 145 pounds, beating Ridgeland's Jordan Hughley in the Consolation finals. Green also took the tournament award for most pins (5) in the shortest amount of time (11:26).
Logan Skeen (120) placed fourth for the Tigers, who ended the tournament with 67 points to place 21st in the 33-team field.
Heritage was 19th with 71 points. The Generals were led by Ryan Craft (106) and Jeffery Curtis (220), who each placed fourth.
For 18th place Ridgeland, who finished with 72 points, Ryan McGill (182) matched Hughley with a fourth-place showing. Head coach Keith Mariakis also cited the efforts of Hunter Smith (126), Aiden Raymer (132), Evan Burnette (152) and Tommy Lamb (220), who each went 2-2 on the weekend.
LaFayette turned out to be the highest local finisher as the Ramblers amassed 78 points to place 16th. Matthew Wallin (285) was fifth in his weight class, while Cody Deal (220) was sixth.
In the team standings, the host Blue Tornado won with 209.5 points as they held off a load of Georgia schools. Woodland of Cartersville (193.5) was second, followed by North Hall (166), West Laurens (155.5) and Union Grove (155).
