The Gordon Lee Trojans traveled to Woodstock to participate in their first tournament of the new season on Saturday and returned home to Chickamauga sporting their first tournament championship trophy of the new season.
Gordon Lee went 5-0 and won the Knight Duals held at River Ridge High School.
The Navy-and-White took down Dunwoody (39-36), Mount Pisgah Christian (48-15), River Ridge (45-30), North Forsyth (40-18) and North Gwinnett (36-25).
Individually, Hunter Burnett went 5-0 while splitting his matches between 106 and 113 pounds. Tommy Duke went 5-0 at 126 and Jarrett Lassiter was 5-0 at 160. Three other Trojans also did not lose a match. Braden Jarvis was 4-0 at 170, C.J. Thomas was 3-0 at 285 and Caleb Vines was 2-0 at 285.
Nathaniel Hunley was 2-2 at 120, while Logan Butler and Caiden Scroggins were each 3-2, splitting matches between 145 and 152.
Gordon Lee will compete next Saturday at the Central-Carroll Duals.
LFO finishes with winning record in Dalton
Despite giving up forfeits in four different weight classes, the improving LFO Warrior wrestling team managed to go 3-2 at the Southeast Whitfield Raider Duals on Saturday.
The Warriors lost to the host school, 39-33, and also suffered a 45-32 setback to Northwest Whitfield, but they also claimed victories over Murray County (40-36), Calhoun (36-35) and Cartersville (52-27).
Noah Shelton, Lathan Stephens, Jacob Brown, Jonathan Cutcher, Kameron Peters and Dylan Simpson all went undefeated for the Warriors, who will join Calhoun for a tri-match at LaFayette this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
