The Ridgeland Lady Panthers lost their two final tune-up matches on Tuesday before the start of the Area 6-AAAA tournament on Thursday.
Ridgeland opened with a 25-19, 25-22 loss to Walker County neighbor Gordon Lee. Jayda Jenkins had nine kills in the loss to go with 11 digs. Rachel Atchley dished out 12 assists. Abbi Witherow had 14 digs and Sarah Williams added two kills and two aces.
In their final match of the evening, the Lady Panthers were bested by host Coahulla Creek in three sets. The Lady Colts won the first set, 25-22, before a 25-21 Ridgeland victory in the second set. Coahulla Creek won the third-set tiebreaker, 17-15.
Atchley had 25 assists to go with three kills and eight digs. Jenkins had 14 kills and 11 digs, while Williams added three kills and two aces. Witherow picked up an ace and 17 total digs.
Other standouts included Landree Dunn (5 kills), Tori Elliott (2 kills), Tara Taylor (7 digs, 1 ace) and Tenley Moore (6 digs).
Ridgeland (20-18) will be the No. 4 seed for the tournament and will host No. 5 seed Pickens in Thursday's opener. The match is set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
