After beating Dade County on Senior Night Monday night, the Ridgeland Lady Panthers followed up with a 25-22, 25-20 home win over Pickens on Tuesday, but have since dropped three matches in a row.
Third-ranked Northwest Whitfield prevented a tri-match sweep by the Lady Panthers on Tuesday night, beating Ridgeland, 25-13 and 25-17. Ridgeland took one on the chin at Southeast Whitfield, 25-23 and 25-12, on Wednesday. Thursday saw the Black-and-White cross state lines to nearby Chattanooga Christian, only to be handed a 25-14, 25-8, 25-10 loss in a best-of-five match.
Jayda Jenkins had 11 digs and nine kills against Pickens, while Tara Taylor had nine digs and six aces. Abbi Witherow finished with 16 digs, Rachel Atchley had 12 assists and Sarah Williams collected two kills and two blocks.
Against the Lady Bruins, Jenkins and Landree Dunn had four kills apiece. Witherow recorded 11 digs, while Atchley had nine assists and an ace.
Jenkins and Dunn both had four kills and a block against the Lady Raiders. Atchley finished with 13 assists, seven digs, two kills and an ace. Witherow had nine digs, while Tori Elliott and Sydney Davis finished with two kills apiece.
Then against the Chargers, Atchley had eight digs and nine assists in the match. Williams recorded five kills and an ace. Jenkins had three kills and seven digs, while Davis had two kills and five digs.
Ridgeland (20-16, 3-3) will play at Coahulla Creek at 5 p.m. on Tuesday before hosting Pickens in the first round of the Area 6-AAAA tournament on Thursday at 5:30. The rest of the area tournament will take place at Ridgeland, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
