The Oakwood Christian Lady Eagles split a pair of matches this week, sweeping Rhea County Academy, but losing in a 3-0 sweep to CAYA.
OCA breezed past Rhea County Academy, 25-10, 25-12 and 25-12 in Chickamauga on Monday.
Amelia Michael scored six consecutive service points in the opening set before Mary Ownby closed things out with five straight service points. Ownby served out the last five points of the second set and the duo gave the Lady Eagles a boost in the third set. Michael once again had five straight service points and Ownby added seven straight later on to key the victory.
Lexie Asher had five kills in the match, while Annika Green had five kills and three blocks. Ownby and Olivia Guest both had three kills. Charity Bankston picked up two kills and Michael added one.
Raleigh Suits and Emilee Teague chipped in with two digs apiece, while Layla Rogers had one.
On Thursday in Collegedale, the Navy-and-Gold lost by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-15.
In the first set, Guest had four straight service points to pull OCA to within 21-16, but got no closer. Then in the second set, Asher had five straight service points to rally the Lady Eagles from a 7-0 hole. But the host team would prove to be too much down the stretch. Michael had five straight service points near the end of the third set.
Annika Green paced the team with four kills and five blocks. Asher added three digs and two kills, while Lily Green had one kill. Ownby had a block, while Michael and Bankston each chipped in with one dig.
OCA (6-5) will join Apostolic of Maryville for a tri-match at Tennessee Christian Prep on Monday. On Tuesday, the Lady Eagles will play host to Shenandoah Baptist Academy at 5 p.m. before make a return trip to SBA Friday at 4.
Senior Night will be Oct. 10 against Tennessee Christian Prep in Chickamauga.
