Evan Boeding got a win at No. 1 singles for the Ridgeland Panthers this past Tuesday, but the Bruins would ultimately score a 4-1 victory in the season opener in Rossville.
Boeding dropped the first set, 6-2, but bounced back for a 7-5 win in the second set. Due to darkness, the match was decided on a tiebreaker, which Boeding win, 10-6.
However, that would be the lone win for the Black-and-White. Matthew Harris defeated Anthony Woodward at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, while Billy Robinson beat Fred Norman, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.
Northwest were awarded the final two points as Ridgeland had to default both doubles matches due to lack of players.
The numbers game would hurt the Lady Panthers in the girls' match as well as Ridgeland lost at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and had to default the remaining matches in a 5-0 loss.
Sruthi Greeshkumal beat Nicole Payne, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Isha Mittal defeated Lexi Mitchell at No. 2 singles by the same count.
In an exhibition doubles match, Payne and Mitchell lost to Daniela Vaca and Hailey Cox, 8-1.
